Lee Kellowell

Lee Kellowell writes the Prax Spells It All series for young readers who don't always see themselves in books, and for the people who love them.

The stories were inspired by Lee's own grandson, a nonspeaking autistic boy who has plenty to say and his own way of saying it. Watching a world too quick to mistake not speaking for not understanding, Lee wanted to write a character who is exactly who he is: funny, sharp, adventurous, and worth listening to, one letter at a time.

The Prax books are written with the belief that every child deserves to be presumed competent, included, and heard. Lee hopes they help nonspeaking kids feel seen, and help everyone else understand a little better.
